🔧 Practical Areas: STI measurements, fire alarm systems, voice alarm systems (VAS)
📍 Venue: Gräf & Meyer GmbH, Kirkel

On 16–17 June 2026, Gräf & Meyer GmbH hosted the practical module of our foundation training course for prospective inspection experts in fire detection and voice alarm systems.

Building on the theoretical foundations of the course, 20 participants had the opportunity to apply and deepen their knowledge directly on real systems. Working alongside three experienced instructors, the focus was placed on practical inspections, measurements, and the assessment of typical system scenarios encountered in day-to-day professional practice.

The hands-on format enabled participants to directly connect theory with practice, gaining valuable insight into the challenges and requirements of future inspection activities in the field.

Hands-on Training with Real-World Systems

The practical module was specifically designed to make theoretical content directly applicable and tangible. Participants worked hands-on with existing systems, carrying out inspection procedures, measurements, and the evaluation of technical installations under realistic conditions.

This created a practice-oriented learning environment that made the future role of an inspection expert more concrete, while also allowing space for individual questions and in-depth discussions.

Three Practical Training Areas for Targeted Insights into fire alarm systems, VAS, and STI Measurements

To provide participants with highly practice-oriented insights, the training was structured into three specialised practical areas.

In one dedicated training room, the focus was on STI measurements and the assessment of speech intelligibility. Another room was fully dedicated to fire alarm systems, covering typical testing and evaluation scenarios. In the third area, participants worked with voice alarm systems (VAS), focusing on their structure, functionality, and assessment within the context of inspection procedures.

This structure allowed participants to gain an in-depth understanding of the different systems and testing methods, while directly experiencing their specific requirements in practice. Working in small groups also enabled close exchange with the instructors and provided ample space for individual questions.

Successfully Linking Theory and Practice

A key strength of the training was the close integration of theory and practice. Participants were able to directly relate the normative requirements and technical fundamentals covered in the theoretical sessions to real systems and experience their practical implementation.

Many questions that had previously been discussed in the classroom could be directly revisited during the hands-on exercises, allowing participants to understand, assess, and jointly analyse them in a practical context. This created a lasting understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements of modern fire alarm systems and voice alarm systems (VAS).

Technical Exchange and Insights from Day-to-Day Inspection Practice

Another key focus of the two-day course was the intensive professional exchange between participants and instructors.

Experiences from real-world projects, typical challenges encountered in the daily work of inspection experts, and different approaches to testing procedures led to numerous constructive discussions and valuable insights. The open dialogue made it possible to explore different perspectives and directly integrate practical experience into the training course.

Networking and Knowledge Transfer Beyond the Training Rooms

In addition to the practical exercises, the breaks and shared lunches also provided numerous opportunities for professional exchange.

Many discussions continued outside the training rooms, allowing participants to share experiences and establish new professional connections. This personal exchange between participants and instructors made a significant contribution to the success of the course and was highly appreciated by many attendees.

A key element on the path to becoming an inspection expert

The combination of solid theoretical knowledge and practice-oriented application has once again proven to be a key element in the training of inspection experts.

The practical module creates the essential link between regulations, technology, and application, contributing to a sustainable understanding of modern fire alarm systems, voice alarm systems, and their inspection.
